Go & Get Her

Words and music by Julie Black

Well, I couldn't believe what I heard last night
From the man that got the best of my life
He said "Babe I appreciate all the things you done
And how you stood by me through years of strife."

You should be happy for me because my luck has changed
My ship has just come in
She's a real sweet girl. Her name is Darlene
She's young. She's blonde. She's thin."

Well that didn't set well with me
There's only one thing I could say
Tonight I'll find me someone to make me feel better
Then I'm gonna go.. I'm gonna go.. and get her

He was shocked by my quick response.
He said "Hold on now let me explain."
But the door was swingin' I'd up and gone
I bolted out like a slave unchained

You best think about how you been messin'
It's time you learned a little respect
I'm gonna teach your lyin' ass a lesson
And when I see sweet Darlene I'll snap her neck!

Well.. that didn't set well with me
There's only one thing I could say
Tonight I'll find me someone to make me feel better
Then I'm gonna go.. I'm gonna go.. and get her

Well I went to the bar … and was tellin' my sorrows
To this helatiously good lookin man
He said "I'm sorry to hear ..you got the short end of the stick
Tell me Mama what's your plan?"

Well there was one thing to say
At a moment like that
So I went ahead and shot from the hip
I'm lookin' for someone to make me feel better
Then I'm gonna go and get her
Then I'm gonna go.. I'm gonna go and get her
