  Julie Black is a powerful songwriter & vocalist whose rich, soulful voice conjures up raw emotions. Called "a major singing and songwriting talent" by Blues Revue Magazine, she's set the world on fire with two original albums; Call Me Angel for Blues (BOJA 2007) & You Just Might Win (BOJA 2009)  earning critical acclaim & charting at XM Satellite Radio & Roots Music Report.

 Currently based in Florida, Julie's roots extend into Illinois & California. Her musical taste was defined early in life, when she fell in love with Solomon Burke's 45 record Cry to Me. She began crafting her own music by the age of twelve, a skill that flourished in adulthood. Julie is a prolific songwriter who has penned a remarkable number of songs (in many different genres) & continues to find inspiration everywhere. An artist in every sense of the word, she is also a painter & sculptor and both of her albums feature all original artwork.

 In 2007, Julie Black's critically acclaimed debut album Call Me Angel for Blues was released by BOJA Records, the independent label of music veteran Bob Langford (Deep Purple, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Joe South). The album was mastered by Rodney Mills of the legendary Rodney Mills Masterhouse (R.E.M., Charlie Daniels, Gregg Allman, Pearl Jam, Journey, Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard, Candi Staton and the Blind Boys of Alabama). A fast favorite of music lovers & radio DJ's, Call Me Angel for Blues had a steady hold on music charts  & was named one of the Top 5 Contemporary Blues Albums of the Year (2007) by Blues Critic Radio.

 Julie found success again with her album "You Just Might Win" (BOJA), released in late 2009. "You Just Might Win" contains 15 original songs and exhibits a dazzling example of Julie's songwriting abilities. In 2010 the album made it into the Top 10 at B.B. Kings' Bluesville on XM /Sirius, and received glowing reviews including a beautiful write up in the 20th Anniversary Edition of Blues Revue Magazine (the world's largest Blues publication). While acknowledging her unique sound, critics have likened Julie to some of music's greatest artists like; Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin, Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Carol King, Billie Holiday and Lennon & McCartney.
